‘Let the pride of representing country work with you,’ Robert Jaworski tells Gilas Pilipinas

Robert Jaworski has represented the Philippines at the top level of world basketball.

The Living Legend played for the country in the 1968 Mexico Olympics and in the 1974 FIBA World Championship prior to carving out a career as the most beloved player in the PBA.

With his experience, Jaworski has some valuable pieces of advice for the Gilas Pilipinas national team, which will represent the country in the FIBA World Cup this August.

“Let’s face it, every time you’re given the opportunity to represent your country in the international arena, it’s the best thing to ever happen, considering that there’s so many who want to be a part of it,” said Jaworski.

The Philippines has been grouped with talented squads Argentina, Croatia, Greece, Puerto Rico, and Senegal, making the country a longshot to qualify for the next round. But while Jaworski is aware of the odds, he said the level of competition is something to relish.
