Pacquiao sparring impresses Barrera

WATCHED by a worthy former adversary, Manny Pacquiao put on a show in his training camp on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood.
Mexican ring legend Marco “Antonio” Barrera, a three-division world champion who was twice beaten by Pacquiao, was impressed as the Filipino icon battered three sparring partners—two Russians and Mexican Ray Beltran—over eight rounds then did all the routine work and exercises totaling 24 rounds.
Interviewed by Chino Trinidad on GMA’s 24 Oras, Barrera said Pacquiao looks stronger and appears ready to regain his status as pound-for-pound king.
Chief trainer Freddie Roach was satisfied with Pacquiao’s performance in his preparation for his fourth showdown with Juan Manuel Marquez on Dec. 8 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Roach said it was Pacquiao’s “best day so far” since reporting for training camp on Oct. 29.
Also present at Wild Card were WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria and prospect Drian Francisco.
